I figure I'll post a few remixes that I've been enjoying.
I don't know much about the first group, Primary 1 (FB). They were posted about a week ago on Fluokids, and I've been jamming to it since. The original is very enjoyable, kinda like muscles, but with a stronger groove. The Shoes calmed it down and made it more suitable for the dancefloor. The 12" single comes out today and is for sale digitally on iTunes.

If you haven't noticed, the ATL's been hot and the Black Lips are one of the many gems to come out of the exploding scene there. I've somehow missed out on their wonderful sound. The original seems to have become a blog staple, but Captain Crunk turns "Veni Vidi Vici" on a Ravey Baille Joyride through heaven.

Muscles has been huge lately, but honestly he's kinda hit or miss for me; sometimes the vocals get slightly monotonous. Shazam replaced the original vocals with an adorably naive sounding girls voice, and it works magic. I have a slight hard time calling this a remix, though. With the original vocals and instrumental tracks replaced, shouldn't this be considered a "cover" rather than a "remix." But who am I to judge, it's a great song.

Sebastien Tellier

So I've been sitting on some stuff that I've been really enjoying, but have been too lazy to give it up to you, so expect another couple posts in the very near future. Well, I'm sure that by now Blogspace has been blowing this song up, but for an exciting reason. Sebastien Tellier's new album, Sexuality, will be produced by none other than Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo of the great Daft Punk! If "Divine" is any testament of things to come, then the future holds exciting things for both Tellier and Daft Punk's new career interest. I will also post the song that first introduced me to his mystical sound, La Ritournelle.
So make love in the grass of diamond blue

Saturday Showdown
I've been on a little bit of a Northern Soul kick lately. That's actually quite an interesting term, because it's really just obscure 60s soul that people in northern England listened to.

B-O-O-T-A-Y! You ain't got no alibi
This has been out for a while, but it is still very notable. This, my friend is ghetto booty rave at it's finest. It reaffirms my faith in how awesome b-more is. Might be a tad bit noisy but, it has a beat that'll drop the biggest prude to the floor. Spank Rock never fails to impress me. Yoyoyoyoyo was one of the best albums of 2006, and B-O-O-T-A-Y shows a fresh new direction for them. This song features one of my other favorites, Santogold along with Illvia. I have made avaliable the original, along with the Krames edit. Their new album, Spank Rock And Benny Blanco are Bangers And Cash is officially out now, so you can pick it up.

Fagget Fairys & The Angry Them

So this is my first music post. I'm mostly trying out the format, so I figured I'll post something new and something old.
I'll start with the new. I just can't get enough of Fagget Fairys' Dainish ghetto-funk baile raps (it'll make sense when you hear it) over their big grimey beats. They have a 12" soon to be released in the US by Palms Out Sounds. I was able post the original along with remixes by Boody B and 3 is a Crowd for your enjoyment, but I'm a bit partial to the original.

After some thought about what the classic song to post, I figured I'll post something that you might have heard. Van Morrison has always been one of those musicians I've always wanted to learn more about, but never made the effort to. Boy, that was a mistake. His first band, The Them made some brilliant garage rock. The song I am posting is a classic by The Them covered throughout musical history by many bands including The Doors and Patti Smith.

First Post
Being my first post I guess I really have nothing ready to talk about, so I shall give my mission statement for this Blog (these business classes have really kind brainwashed me):
Fallen Sound System will primarily be a music blog subtly targeted towards other residents like myself of South Florida. We shall work to fundamentally organize and strengthen the music and arts communities in this area. We will attempt to do this by giving the reader something interesting to view, hear and read.
The methods we will use to attain that goal are as follows:
We will help hype and eventually sponsor parties
We will post pictures from previous parties
We will post mixtapes mostly of DJs
We will feat guest postings by locally known DJs in the area
We will post music that we feel our readers would enjoy
If you have any other ideas, or would like to help please let me know. My first order of business will be to design the page, including a logo. After that I will have a grand premier, this is just a soft premier.
